Your gift to UC Irvine School of Social Sciences has the power to transform individuals and communities.

Shaping the Future
Publicly launched in 2008, UCI’s Shaping the Future campaign is working to raise $1 billion to support students, research and programs at UCI.  Learn more about the School of Social Sciences initiatives that are contributing to this effort:

  • Mind, Brain and Behavior
Our Mind, Brain and Behavior Initiative investigates one of the greatest current scientific challenges—how the human mind work and its functions. Innovative research focuses on attention, memory and information processing; hearing and language; and vision and perception. Findings impact the scientific understanding of diseases and disorders including Alzheimer’s, schizophrenia and autism, to name a few.
  • Population
We live in an increasingly competitive and interconnected world, and changes in populations affect our economy and way of life. Our researchers investigate implications of aging populations and successful immigrant incorporation in politics, education, and health. These studies impact policies and lead to innovative programs that promote global competitiveness and national prosperity.
  • Environment and Policy
Social scientists investigate policies that impact our day to day quality of life including traffic and congestion, labor, travel, clean air and solar energy. Research findings directly influence policymakers on the local, national and international level and define innovative solutions to our changing environmental and energy needs.
  • Well-Educated Global Citizen
Our research, teaching and outreach programs impact tomorrow’s leaders today. By providing students hands-on opportunities to investigate global issues, our programs teach effective communication, organization, mediation and negotiation skills. With these tools, our graduates go on to be innovators as top corporate, political and community leaders, and they can be found making a difference everyday in boardrooms, classrooms, law offices and non-profit organizations across the globe.
  • Undergraduate Scholarship Support
In support of the School’s priority to recognize undergraduate students who demonstrate academic excellence and promise as community leaders, the Social Sciences Undergraduate Award for Excellence offers an opportunity to make a difference in the life of a student.
  • Undergraduate Value-Added Program Support
The School of Social Sciences is committed to providing programs for undergraduates outside of the classroom.  We believe these programs are instrumental in developing tomorrow’s leaders today.
  • Graduate Fellowship Support
Graduate students are essential to UCI’s success as a preeminent research institution.  In addition to innovative research, Social Sciences graduate students teach in the classroom.  Graduate fellowships attract top national and international candidates for our graduate programs; foster a supportive and stimulating environment for their intellectual and professional growth; and recognizes and honors student achievements.
  • Faculty Research Support/Endowed Chairs
Faculty research support and the establishment of endowed chairs enable the School of Social Sciences to attract and retain some of the most distinguished faculty throughout the country.  Funds realized through these gifts provide resources to support research programs and graduate students.
  • Unrestricted Support
General unrestricted gifts to the School of Social Sciences provide the freedom to apply funding where it is most strategically needed.  Donations can help provide scholarships, fellowships, faculty awards, and provide funding for our value added programs, to name a few.
